Q: Which cities does DR Construction & Roofing cover?

We serve 16 cities as our primary service area, 15 of them in Broward County and Boca Raton in Palm Beach County. We are based in Tamarac, so most of that footprint is inside a thirty-minute drive. We also take work in 23 further South Florida communities; call and ask about yours.

Q: Do you charge more for the cities further from Tamarac?

No. Estimates are free everywhere we work, and the quote covers the job rather than the drive. If a property sits outside the areas listed on this page, we will say so when you call instead of quoting and then backing out.

Q: Does the building code change from city to city?

The code is set by Florida, not by each city, but where your property sits does change what applies. Every city we serve in Broward County falls inside the High-Velocity Hurricane Zone, which governs materials, fastening and inspections. Boca Raton is in Palm Beach County, which is outside the HVHZ. What does vary by city is who issues the permit and how fast: some cities run their own building division, others route through the county.

Q: Who pulls the permit for my roof?

We do, as part of the job. Which office it goes to depends on your city, and we file with whichever one covers your address. Permitting is also why our licensing matters: the qualifier on the permit has to hold the right licence for the work.

Q: What licences do you hold?

DR Construction & Roofing holds two: a Certified Roofing Contractor licence (CCC 1328855) and a Certified General Contractor licence (CGC 1507284). The roofing licence covers the roof. The general contractor licence covers the structural work underneath it, which is what a rotted truss or a failed deck turns into once the tile comes off. Both are verifiable at the Florida DBPR.

The Hurricane Zone

Every Broward city on this page sits inside the High-Velocity Hurricane Zone. It sets what materials are allowed, how they are fastened and what an inspector checks. Boca Raton is in Palm Beach County, outside the HVHZ, so the requirements there are not the same.

Who Issues the Permit

Some cities run their own building division. Others route through the county. It changes the paperwork, the inspection schedule and how long you wait for dry-in. We file with whichever office covers your address, and we plan the crew around its cut-off times.
